Description

Classic Chicago Heat from Tyree Cooper pulled together by Detroit based Norm Talley.

Hardcore Hip House was originally released back in 1988 and is a Tyree classic: Tyree’s original version paired rap vocals and James Brown cutups with raw House beats. Here we get a lovely Soulful House re-edit by House veteran Tony Humphries.

Next up fellow Chicago producer Mike Dunn drops his own edit of Acid Over. Originally released in 1987 this early Acid House classic helped created the template for a style that still rips up any decent dancefloor 30+ years later.

Opening up the B side is I Fear The Night. This is taken the first 12″ single that Tyree released back in 1986. It’s the Subterranean Mix featuring vocals by Chic.

Last but not least we have ‘Video Crash’ in it’s original guise, which subsequently got re-titled as ‘Acid Crash’ on a bootleg version which was released around the same time. This 1988 track hails from an era of creative one-upmanship in the Chicago underground. The story goes that Marshall Jefferson and/or Lil’ Louis created a jam called ‘Video Clash’ in the mid 80s (there’s still some controversy about who made it, so we’ll say no more). Keen to go one better, Tyree hit the studio to make a track called ‘Video Crash’ and in the process he created one of the most potent and recognizable Acid House tracks of all time.

Tracklist:
A1 – Hardcore Hip House (Tony Humphries Mix Re-Edit 2021)
A2 – Acid Over (Mike Dunn Edit)
B1 – I Fear The Night (Vocal Mix Featuring Chic)
