Well well well, what have we here then? The folk from KAT come up with a nice surprise bringing us a name we haven’t seen or heard for too long – Domu.
Domu is a name synonymous with the broken beat scene and everything he touched oozed pure quality. The 2 tracks here are no exception with a couple of big re-edits that are taken from the Japanese only release (and uber rare) ‘ESP DJ Classics Vol 2: Domu’s Disco Jazz’ that was released back in 2009.
The Emotions, ‘Love Vibes’ has been sampled a good few times before, a couple of re-edits have reared their heads but none go anywhere near Domu’s wonderful take on this jazz funker. The tempo is taken up a notch or two, and we get an arrangement to die for, filtered in all the right places to work the floor.
On the flip we have a mighty edit of Claudia Barry’s ‘Give it Up’, originally released in 1978 and taken from the ‘I Wanna Be Loved By You’ album. A funked up killer Disco groove, raunchy guitars and an aching sassy vocals to boot.
