Description
According to the brief press release provided to stores by the Idjut Boys, ‘Yagga Yao’ is ‘one from the vaults’ – a cut they recorded with dominican vocalist Dolla Man sometime in the dim and distant past but has not been released until now. As we’ve come to expect from The Idjut Boys, it stands out as freshly unique compared to anything else in the racks.
The EP-opening ‘Demo Version’ sets the tone, sitting somewhere between their trademark freewheeling dub disco flex and bouncy, post-punk-era ska. They’ve re-imagined it themselves via the sleazy, dub-fired, heavily electronic ‘Beat Up’ version – driving, spaced out house crossed with dark-Italo. The mighty Emperor Machine rebuilds it on side B, turning it into a squelchy slab of synth-boogie/dub disco fusion, his take is reminiscent of the sounds he pushed on 2024 album Island Boogie.
Notes: The record is brand new and has never been played. The sleeve has been graded as Very Good Plus because there is sticker residue on front cover left behind after removing the distributors label. Photo supplied on request.
