Description

Official re issue of this seminal electro-disco stomper from the vaults of Konduko. Re mastered for 2015. Notes taken from Disco Not Disco compilation notes :

“Miami contributed to its own sound to the disco of the ’70’s, mainly through the network of labels operating under the TK Disco umbrella, including Sunshine Sound (founded by members of KC & The Sunshine band), Marlin, Alston, Bold and King Sporty’s Konduko label. Sporty had been a stalwart of the reggae production since the early 60’s but by the early 70’s in Miami the market for reggae was dwindling and Sporty was trying new fusions with the bands in his stable like the Chosen Few who turned out some fiery funk covers. As disco exploded, Sporty followed, this time with an even stronger identity. Other Miami based reggae musicians had followed suit – Noel Williams’ Disco Connection had covered Michael Jackson and Mcfadden & Whitehead reggae-disco style and Joe Gibbs had taken on “Rappers Delight”, “I Can’t Stand The Rain” through his own Joe Gibbs imprint. Sporty had gained notriety from a disco version of Bob Marley’s “Buffalo Solider” which remained on acetate for years and continued to develop his own off-kilter disco directions as music went electronic in the early 80’s with his band the Ex Tras. One of the vocalists from the band Connie Case, lay down this fierce electro stomper in 1982.”
