Description

After a handful of releases and remixes on respected labels, Washington, DC’s Sol Power All-Stars proudly introduce their own imprint, Sol Power Sound. The highly curated output will feature organic, infectious, warm-weather grooves influenced by sounds and traditions from across the globe.

First out the gate is a 3-song EP from the Sol Power All-Stars themselves, guaranteed to ignite dance floors around the world. These proven fire-starters have support from a diverse cast of some of the biggest tastemakers in dance music.

The A-side features Plaza Bolivar on which a folk tune from the South American Caribbean coast gets pumped up into a incendiary house stomper. The powerful female lead and call and response refrain get flipped with a hefty percussive groove, thick bass line, and vibrant marimba. This is peak time Sol Power.

Giya leads off the B-side and it’s a deep, twisted, percussive excursion into afro-space, strictly for the late night heads and dancers. If your dance floor has soul, Giya will turn it out.

Zibodub closes out the record. This sunny slice of Côte d’Ivoire soul gets the Sol Power dub treatment. A sure shot selection to get any room moving early.

Support from: Soul Clap, Jose Marquez, Jeremy Sole / KCRW, Rich Medina, Whiskey Barons, Spiritual South, Daz-I-Kue, Cousin Cole, Captain Planet, Apt One / Michael the Lion
